Wanda is Back in the Groove and Says Being Painless is Priceless
|
Wanda’s arthritis pain was so debilitating that it forced her to learn how to walk down stairs backwards. By age 55, it was her way of avoiding the shocking ache in her knees. As a young teacher, in her late twenties, Wanda hit her right knee on the corner of a desk in her classroom. She said that bruise from the injury never went away and eventually arthritis started settling in her knee. |

It was in early 1970 when Wanda first decided to have her surgery. She underwent a partial right knee replacement where the pain was especially difficult to endure. As the years went by, Wanda began to feel the onset of arthritis in her left knee, and she knew she couldn’t wait for it to get worse. She also knew that the surgery she received on her right knee 15 years prior would need to be revisited. Ultimately, Wanda opted for less invasive joint replacements for both knees.
Now Wanda is pain-free with a total knee replacement for her right knee and a partial knee replacement in her left. She is feeling better and, after losing 40 pounds triggered by needed exercise therapy for her knees, said she hears she is looking better, too. Most importantly, she doesn’t have to experience the pain that she’s dealt with for so many years. “Right now, I’m painless – and that’s priceless,” she gleams. “It [joint replacement surgery] has changed the quality of my life like you wouldn’t believe,” proclaims Wanda. “I would encourage anyone considering it, to have the surgery. It’s life saving and life changing.”
