Sleepless Nights Gone for Good with Successful Knee Replacements

Juliet didn’t pay much attention to the pain when it first started, about two years ago at the age of 51, but ignoring it didn’t make it go away.  As a matter of fact, the pain became more intense over time.

Her knees began hurting so badly that Juliet couldn’t get to sleep at night.  “The pain was excruciating.  It was just impossible to get comfortable and I couldn’t take it anymore.”  Suffering and concerned, she finally went to Dr. James Wood, who diagnosed her with arthritis.

Juliet underwent total right knee replacement and was in physical therapy the following day.  Three days later, she was out of the hospital and back home again.  Post-surgical therapy spanned a six-week period, where Juliet did both water and land aerobic exercises to ensure a smooth transition.  Altogether, Juliet was back on her job as an administrative assistant in less than three months.

She was relieved not only that the pain was gone for good, but that fears planted in her mind by others regarding the procedure were unfounded.  “You hear so many people say that it’s dangerous and you’ll experience problems.  It wasn’t true.  I thank God that I haven’t had any problems and I’m able to do everything I was doing before the pain.”

Juliet said initially she was fearful of the prospect of having something “foreign” in her body.  But the difference is virtually unnoticeable. Now sleeping peacefully again, she said, “I would advise anybody in my situation to go for it.  The pain is gone!”
